A WORLD IN A SUITCASE
Timuchin Dindjer and Myrna Shoa conceived and developed this innovative project. Run over eight weeks the students became explorers and kept a log of their journey. They were encouraged to use their imagination, fly on a magic carpet, overcome obstacles, plan what to take with them on their journey until they glimpsed their Future World. They captured their thoughts and feelings using drawing and stories. All their work has been collated into individual books for each student and will be showcased in an exhibition in the Autumn 2017. (Also see our other site for more info about the project)
The students drew a self portrait of their future self.
Here is a slideshow of Elyasse and Yahya's books about their journey.
On the first session they had to imagine they were on a magic carpet setting out to their future world. They wrote and illustrated a story based on where they landed.
On another session the students had to write and illustrate another story in response to this illustration about encountering obstacles on their journey.
